With the community in mind, mid 2019 the North Western Model Engineers Inc. started building a miniature railway that is family oriented and inclusive for all. Completed stage 1, a 105 metre loop plus a level crossing leading to our northern extension in time for our official opening in November of that year.

Our opening day was held on 17th November 2019, and was well attended by members of the public who eagerly awaited their turn on the trains. Members of Blacktown City Council, the state MP for Labour, and representatives from some of our supporting businesses also attended.

NWME Inc. continued to work tirelessly to raise the necessary funds required to build the remainder of railway through various means. Due to this hard work, work on our second stage was completed in April of 2023 allowing us to hold our Grand Opening that month.

As NWME continues to grow and build the railway, increasing our ability to provide a community space for families and people with disabilities to enjoy an even longer train ride and picnic in Nurragingy Reserve.
